As an organization Sigma Kappa encourages our members to be involved in their campus and community. Because of this focus on involvement outside of Sigma Kappa, our sisters are able to engage with the campus and community in ways that are important to them by hosting and participating in a number of different events.
We plan various events throughout the semesters to contribute to our philanthropies. Each fall, we hold our annual Frats at Bat. Fraternity brothers make teams to compete against each other in baseball, with all the proceeds going to the Sigma Kappa Foundation.
We are proud to participate in the Walk to End Alzheimer's each year. This is a philanthropy very close to our hearts. We participate in the Pittsburgh Walk or the Westmoreland County Walk. We are consistently in the top donors group each year. Each sister individually raises money before the walk, and all the proceeds go to the Alzheimer's research. In 2018, our chapter raised over $7000, and out of the Sigma Kappa chapters participating, we took 2nd place in raising the most money.
Ultra Violet B.I.N.G.O. is our Spring event! Each year the prizes grow as does the crowd attending. A great afternoon of playing Bingo, winning prizes, Insomnia cookies and snacks. All of the proceeds to go the Sigma Kappa Foundation PULSE Fund.
Along with these events, we strive to have a positive impact on our community by doing community service and always helping others when we can.
